A Study on the Colors of Korean Deciduous teeth and Composite resins
Lee Sang-Ho

Kim Hyeong-Tae
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the colors of the Korean natural deciduous teeth and three composite resins (Silux Plus¢ç, PALFIQUE¢ç and Fuji¥±¢ç) by means of the OFC-loll DP colorimeter which can be measured by Adams Coordinate System (L, a, b system).
The subjects are 20 children (12 boys and 8 girls, aged from three to six year, who has come to the Department of Pedodontics in Infirmary of Dental College, Chosun University) and three composite resins which are Silux Plus¢ç (3M), PALFIQUEO¢ç (TOKUSO), and Yuji ¥± (G-C).
The colors of incisal third, middle third and, cervical third of maxillary anterior teeth and shade guide of composite resins were examined. The data were analyzed statistically by means of SPSS(Statistical Package for the Social Science).
The results were as follows :
1. The mean of L(lightness), a(red chromaticity), and b(yellow chromaticity) of deciduous teeth and composite resins were measured. (Table 3 , 4, 5, 8, 9, 10)
2. The color of Korean deciduous teeth are bluish-gray or bluish-green gray.
3. According to each tooth, the L value are not significant but the a and b values are signif icant.
4. According to region of each tooth, the a value is not significant but the L and b values are significant.
5. Generally the range of color of composite resins contains that of deciduous teeth.
6. When the color of tooth is compared with the color of composite resin, L, U, & Y in Silux Plus¢ç, YO in PALFIQUE¢ç, and #22 in Fuji¥±¢ç are similar to the color of
deciduous tooth.
